my day job is being an information security analyst…so i tend get a little serious when it comes to security features.  so when i heard about this new gmail feautre i figured i would pass along the information.

gmail for a while has offered https if you wanted it.  however, you had to manually type in https://gmail.com for it to work.  now you don’t have to.  go to your gmail account now and go to settings at the bottom of the settings page there will be the following option:

select “always use https” and you will no longer have to worry about your data being transmitted unsecurely!

i have been waiting for something like this to become a reality for a long time.  although i may not benefit from something like this for another 3-5 years, i am extremely glad that it is at least coming soon.

here is the latest on the wireless living room of the future

i recently was doing some work on monkey bread bakery and stumbled across a new flash gallery that i replaced the current one with.  i think it turned out quite nicely.  you can check out the gallery here. i got it from airtight interactive.  they have several pretty  slick flash galleries and other flash goodies for that matter that are easy to install and make for a nice effect.

there is another flash gallery that i like to use.  i have used it on itmdesign and on a few sites in the past.  the only down side to this gallery is that if you don’t let all the images on the page load before clicking on one of the images, the flash effect won’t work.  so be careful when using this one.  i can’t seem to find the original site i got this from, but here is a slight variation…here.

say hello to my 2 biggest fans.  these guys are constantly supporting me during those long nights of coding.  they are typically contorted in various shapes and configurations right behind my chair…

when they want attention they come and knock my hand off the mouse…sometimes quite adamantly.  we were watching tv in the living room tonight and cohen (the black/brown one) was resting his head on wrigley (the black/white one) and it was too hilarious to pass up…we had to take a picture.  enjoy!

now i have been dead set on getting an iphone 3g, as soon as my contract is up in september.  however, it looks like blackberry is coming out with an “iphone killer.”  the blackberry thunder…

blackberry sync has some of the details of this much anticipated device.  i think my heart still lies with the iphone, but if there is one cell phone maker that can compete with apple…blackberry is that cell phone maker.  sure there is the samsung instinct, but blackberry has been on the top for a while and they make a great product…so i assume they put similar effort into this device.

keep your eyes on hulu.  gonna be big.  probably the best free site for on-demand tv content.  they have even been experimenting with hd content.  if they can deliver their current array of shows in hd…then you can call me a smitten kitten…comcast take a hike!  i’ll be hooking the computer up to the big screen and hulu will be my new comcast.  check it out…

i worked hard on whittengrey.com all week and am currently taking a break from design this weekend.  although, i’ll probably find my way to the computer sometime tomorrow for some designing.

i am currently working on blogs for both whitten grey and monkey bread bakery.  i am a huge fan of wordpress, i love the admin interface, especially the new (version v2.5.1). i highly recommend it if you are looking for a flexible blogging platform.

on a personal note we went to the memphis redbirds game thursday and enjoyed an excellent fireworks show.  friday we had planned on going to the lake to enjoy the 4th but decided not to go due to rain.  today we are hanging out with the family.  we enjoyed an amazing smoked turkey cooked by none other than doogle…all complimented  by homemade ice cream made by doogle’s wife (my mother)!  good day.  currently we are vegetating in front of the tv for the rest of the day…
