email is dieing…

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

email has been around for way too long.  i think google has begun what will eventually replace email.  at google i/o the other day google demoed what they have been working on for roughly 2 years…google wave!

google wave is a product that allows you to collaborate in real time integrating all sorts of collaboration type technologies into a client interface in the web browser.  it truly is an amazing way to communicate with others.  it is open source and will work along its own protocol.  which means anyone can build a “wave client.”  it can be used like email.  you can maintain your own wave servers in parallel with email.  but i think once you see how it works you will wonder why you would ever want to use email again.  soon we’ll be “waving” instead of “emailing”

awesome!

some people have too much time on their hands, but i guess if it results in something interesting enough for people to embed a video on their blog of this additional time…its worth it.

google squared

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

google is working on some new concepts centered around search.  they are forecasting that search must go somewhere beyond keyword searching.  google squared might be that somewhere.

the concept is…take keyword searching, the organic mess it is, and turn it into a very organized database that lines up real nice and neat in rows and columns that becomes understandable very quickly and answers your questions immediately.  g-squared will allow you to search for something and it will go ahead and begin filling in info into a spreadsheet like format. pretty spiffy like.

i think google is looking to add this as an offering in the google labs sometime in the near future…be sure to check it out.
