pretty cool little iPhone app here where I can write blog posts from the iPhone. unfortunately I might just have to break my no caps rule, since the iPhone likes to auto cap. Oh well. I think the zero readers I have can deal.

i love what boxee has done here.  they have basically made this guy look like the low down horrible liar that he is.  this guy straight up lied about the feud between boxee and hulu that was puppeteered by nbc execs and content distributers because they are too short sighted to see that the internet is going to own your tv and that traditional cable is going to die soon.  as an interested third part in the online tv vs. cable battle that is being waged right now i know what boxee’s intentions are…they want to aggregate online content and make it deliverable in an easy to use interface on your television.  they don’t want to steal the content and make it their own.  they are happy to show the ads that the content providers display on their video or any other measures that are necessary to deliver the content, which is what boxee fans want!

if its not the music label execs, its the tv execs.  they just need to go ahead and retire and get out of the way for our generation that understand the internet and hate cable television

check out what google is doing with their new chromeos, i am very excited by the idea of carrying around a cheap, light-weight internet only netbook to stay connected when i am on the move. could you use chromeos??? too bad we have to wait another year…

i have been blessed with a google wave invite, so i have been giving it a thorough run through.  i have to say, it was a little awkward at first trying to get use to this new interface and it was abundantly obvious at how lonely it can be in a limited private beta.  there was very little to do, after quickly making the rounds through all the clicks, buttons, and menus i was immediately giving the “ok…what next?” face to my computer screen.  but!  then i found the “with:public” search options.  by typing in any interest and appending “with:public” to the search you are able to query all public waves for your search criteria.  i quickly added myself to a few waves tailored to my local community.  everyone there, 30+ people at the time of this post, was very friendly, sociable and excited about communicating with this revolutionary new communication media.  I quickly began to see the awesomeness of google wave.  seeing the public and community capabilities as well as the robots that i have been learning about and the instant collaboration.

being able to put nearly any content (pictures, video, widgets, documents, voting capabilities, the list goes on) into a wave and keep 1 wave going while you add people, remove people, private chat within a wave, etc is pretty amazing.  its pretty cool only having a few waves in your inbox and they individually grow without the overbearing barrage of messages that pollute your inbox when using email.  i see great potential for this technology and i highly recommend singing up for a wave account (it will probably take some time before you actually receive an account…and, no i don’t have any invites).

oh yeah, i almost forgot about my favorite feature!  drag and drop uploads.  you can literally grab some pictures off your desktop and drop them on the webpage and they upload to the wave…awesome.  this is one small step to the entirely cloud based os.  its coming, its only a matter of time.

how long do you think before something like google wave replaces email?

i don’t necessarily agree with everything 10/gui suggests in their look into the future of multi-touch computing, but i do like the way they take a fresh and somewhat uninhibited re-take on how to interface with the computer.  i agree that things need to change, we have been dealing with the keyboard and mouse for way too long and there is a built up desire for something new and cool.  touch devices were pretty much crappy for the longest time and then the iphone came out and touch/multi-touch took off!  we need someone to step up and take that step into a new realm of interfacing possibilities.  but, 10/gui, i like where your heads at, keep it up!

check out this pretty clever little series on hulu. the episodes are super short and pretty funny…especially if you understand shortcuts on a windows keyboard. anyways, enjoy this little break from reality. its 10 episodes you should be able to blaze through fairly quickly. enjoy!

if you are interested in keeping current on web standards and using open standards in your web coding exploits then you will enjoy following along with mads kjaer over at net tuts as he walks you through the building of a blog using next generation’s html and css based coding techniques (html5 and css3).  if your using the latest and greatest browsers like ff 3.5, the newest chrome release or the latest safari then you’ll be able to render the demo sight no problem.  or, if your even more advantageous than i you’ll go ahead and start testing out your own code using some of these new standards.  remember though…these new features will only be usable in the latest browsers, so you’ll have to, at least, keep some code hacks in there to play nice with the few versions of ie6 still lingering around out there.
